The Digital ruler is a 15 cm wooden ruler, which uses technology of electric-resistance and measurement in order to calculate length of line or distance. Unlike any other ruler, it is relative, not absolute. The 0 point of the ruler is defined by every new measurement with any pen. Electronic Ruler is a functional surprising object, offering new ways of using an old device.
Stain is a unique tea cup created by Bethan Laura Wood, a designer from the UK. At first, the cup looks like any other cup, but the natural staining that comes from using the cup reveals a hidden pattern.
Bethan writes: “This project examines the assumption that use is damaging to a product (For example, scratches on an iPod).”

Composed of magnetic nanoparticles, ferrofluids often contain high levels of iron and, as such, are deeply affected by and responsive to the presence of magnetic fields. While the NASA-developed ferrofluids are being used increasingly for commercial applications - on everything from compact disks to weight-responsive car suspension systems - Kodama is revolutionary in applying their widely dynamic qualities to the fine arts arena.
Using a computer to manipulate electro-magnetic fields in the sculptures, Kodama coerces her stunning ferrfluid pieces to grow and disintegrate, flower and shed, and constantly reinvent themselves without the aid of animatronics or video wizardry.

The Edge phone is designed for the style conscious fashionistas. The name has nothing to do with data speed. In fact we don’t even know what this phone is capable of because as with all fashion phones, looks rein supreme and the Edge phone makes sure you notice with its glowing glass keyboard.
But why? Well, compact cameras are supposed to be small and reasonably priced. Therefore small image sensors, e.g. format 7.5 x 9.4 mm or 5.4 x 6.8 mm, are built into the cameras. To increase the pixel count, the sensor has to be divided into smaller and smaller pixels.
The result is a decrease in sensitivity of the camera and an increase in noise because the amount of light collected by a single pixel is smaller. At the same time, increasing the number of pixels is supposed to lead to more details (resolution), but in order to achieve that better lenses with high resolution and a lower lateral chromatic abberation are needed. However better lenses are bigger and don’t fulfill the requirements for ’small’ cameras any more.
In the meantime, the pixels have become so small that the physical phenomenon of diffraction causes a loss of details with smaller apertures (with pixels below 2 microns already from f-stop 3.5). In addition, the data sizes of uncompressed images from cameras with 12 megapixels are approx. 36 MB/ picture. This data flood results in long editing times and requires huge storage capacities. So actually, what is critical for the listed problems isn’t the number of pixels but the size of each one. But in order to make pixels bigger, the sensor must be enlarged and along with that the camera with the lens gets bigger. That defeats the point of how big a ‘compact’ camera should be for consumers.
The dress is comprised of 7 trashbags, 2 foot-pumps and a pair of slippers. As you walk, air is gradually pumped into the inflatable bubble at the back of the dress, allowing you to sit on it. However, your weight will slowly deflates the bubble, forcing you to get up and walk again.
According to the creator, "The balance between exercise and rest would be maintained by wearing this suit. The purpose of this project is to transform the humdrum experiences produced by routine walking commutes into an amusing interactive performance."
